Commuters on Islamabad’s FR-11 feeder bus route will need to reset their watches, as the Capital Metropolitan Transport Wing (CMTW) has introduced a revised timetable for services between Golra Morh Metro Station and I-16 that takes effect from Thursday, October 23.
Under the new schedule, buses on the FR-11 feeder route will run at intervals of either 30 or 60 minutes depending on the time of day, with separate departure charts for each direction of travel. The revised timings are aimed at matching services more closely with commuter demand across the day.
On the Golra Morh-to-I-16 leg, buses will depart every 30 minutes during the morning peak between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM, switching to hourly service from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon. The 30-minute frequency returns for the long afternoon stretch from 12:00 noon to 6:00 PM, before settling into hourly departures between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM, with the last bus leaving Golra Morh Metro Station at 7:00 PM sharp.
In the reverse direction, from I-16 to Golra Morh, services begin at 6:45 AM and run every 30 minutes until 9:45 AM, then hourly until 12:45 PM. The half-hourly rhythm resumes from 12:45 PM to 6:45 PM, followed by hourly departures until the final bus of the day leaves I-16 at 7:45 PM.
The feeder routes are the workhorses connecting Islamabad’s residential sectors to the main metro corridor, and regular riders often say predictable timings matter more than sheer frequency. Commuters using the FR-11 route are advised to plan their journeys around the new intervals, especially during the midday and evening hours when services drop to one bus per hour.
Islamabad’s metro feeder network has expanded steadily over the past two years as the capital’s transport authorities try to reduce reliance on private vehicles and informal vans. Each feeder route links neighbourhoods that the main metro line does not reach directly, and timetable adjustments are common as authorities study ridership patterns and gather feedback from daily passengers.
For now, the revised FR-11 schedule stands as published by the CMTW. Daily commuters travelling between Golra Morh and I-16 should check the departure times carefully for the first few days, since missing a midday or evening bus could now mean waiting up to a full hour for the next one.
