Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Freezes Health Department Hiring in Selected Districts

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department has suspended all recruitment at health institutions and offices in selected districts until further orders, bringing hiring across parts of the province’s health system to a halt. According to an official notification, District Health Officers and Tehsil Headquarters hospitals have been directed to stop ongoing and planned recruitments with immediate effect.

The freeze is wide-ranging, covering every stage of the hiring process. No new job advertisements may be issued, and recruitment tests, interviews and the preparation of merit lists are all suspended. The department has also barred the issuance of appointment letters, the joining of candidates already selected, and any new postings until further notice, which means even appointments that were close to completion are now on hold.

For candidates waiting on tests, interviews or merit lists, the order means an uncertain wait, since no timeline has been given for when the suspension will be lifted. District health offices, which handle much of the front-line hiring for hospitals and basic health units, will have to manage with their existing staff in the meantime, and any vacancies that arise during the freeze will simply remain unfilled.

The notification carries a clear warning for officials on the ground: concerned officers will be held responsible for any violation of the directives. That accountability clause leaves little room for exceptions at district level, and it signals that the department intends the freeze to be applied strictly until it issues fresh orders.
