Caviar’s Zodiac iPhone Duo Lets You Design a $14,800 Foldable Around Your Star Sign

Luxury smartphone customiser Caviar has unveiled a new Zodiac collection for Apple's foldable iPhone Duo, a range that lets buyers build a phone around their own star sign using precious metals, gemstones, exotic leather and even fragments of meteorite. The collection covers all twelve zodiac signs, and prices start at around $14,800. Instead of choosing from a fixed set of finished designs, customers use an online configurator to pick their own materials and finishes, and Caviar says the result can run to more than one million combinations for each sign.

The idea marks a change of direction for a company best known for selling finished luxury phones at eye-watering prices. Until now, a Caviar buyer picked a design the company had already created and paid whatever it cost. This time the buyer becomes the designer, starting from a zodiac theme and deciding how far to go, so no two phones need ever look the same.

Design and Customization

Each design begins with the buyer's zodiac sign, which loads a default layout centred on a decorative zodiac wheel and constellation pattern on the back. From there, the customer can change the materials used for the frame, the back panel, the zodiac circle and the central medallion, working through the configurator until the phone looks the way they want it to.

The choice of materials is deliberately extravagant. Frames can be finished in silver, gold plating, natural titanium or titanium with a black PVD coating, while the rear panel can be fitted with forged carbon or leather, including calfskin, python and crocodile. Decoration leans further into luxury, with Swarovski crystals, gemstones, jewellery enamel and genuine meteorite inlays on offer.

Caviar says these options add up to roughly fifteen million combinations across the collection, or more than a million for each sign. The number is partly a marketing claim, but it underlines the point. Where earlier Caviar phones were made to be recognised at a glance, the Zodiac collection is made to be personal, with the owner's star sign as the one fixed element in an otherwise open design.

Price and Availability

The default Capricorn model pairs a black titanium frame with a forged carbon back panel and starts at an estimated $14,800. The Aquarius configuration, which uses silver and navy crocodile leather, comes in at approximately $18,615. Other signs sit in a similar range, with the Libra model starting at around $15,372 and the Aeris model at about $15,600. Every one of these is based on the 256GB iPhone Duo, which Apple sells from $1,999, so the customisation alone adds at least $12,000 to the price.

Buying one is not as simple as adding it to a basket. After finalising a design, the customer receives a unique code to send to a Caviar sales manager, who confirms the final price and processes the order. The arrangement suits a product at this price, but it also means the quoted figures are estimates rather than fixed prices, and the final cost depends entirely on the materials selected.

Caviar says every customised iPhone Duo goes through additional hinge and display testing before delivery, and each phone carries a twelve-month warranty. That testing matters, because the Duo is a foldable, and reports have already surfaced of its inner screen cracking along the crease shortly after the phone went on sale on 23 October. Each order also includes a Caviar clasp bearing the buyer's chosen constellation, plated in 999 gold.

Caviar’s Other Luxury iPhones

The Zodiac collection follows a run of expensive iPhone Duo modifications from the same company. In October, Caviar launched its World Treasures collection, featuring customised iPhone Duo models costing up to $90,000 and built with materials such as 18K gold, platinum and diamonds. The company also introduced Black Edition versions of the iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone Duo, which replace the rear camera bump with a flat titanium panel and have their front cameras disabled, a design aimed at secure corporate and government buyers. Those models are limited to nineteen numbered units each and priced from $10,560 to $13,990. Unlike those fixed designs, the Zodiac range hands the choices to the customer, so it is less about owning a particular Caviar creation and more about owning a phone that nobody else has.

For Caviar, the collection also fits a much longer story. The brand began in April 2011 with its first customised smartphone, and it has spent the years since turning ordinary flagship phones into luxury objects with gold, diamonds, rare leather and fragments of meteorites. In April 2022 the business split into Caviar Russia and Caviar International, with the international arm now based in Dubai.

Whether the collection finds many buyers is another question. A phone costing $14,800 before any upgrades is beyond the reach of almost everyone, and a foldable adds a genuine worry about durability that no amount of gold plating can remove. But Caviar is not selling to everyone. It is selling to buyers who want their phone to say something about them, and a zodiac sign, picked by the owner and finished in materials of their choosing, does that more directly than any fixed design could.
