BankIslami Posts Rs. 3.1 Billion Profit in Nine Months of 2026

BankIslami, one of Pakistan’s fastest-growing Islamic banks, has posted a profit after tax of PKR 3.1 billion for the nine months ended September 30, 2026, underscoring the momentum building behind Shariah-compliant banking in the country. The bank’s total deposits climbed to PKR 630.7 billion, a figure that reflects the deepening trust of customers in its Islamic banking services.

The strongest story in BankIslami’s results lies in its deposit mix. The bank’s current accounts expanded by 9.7 percent since December 2025, lifting their share of total deposits to 50 percent, up from 43.6 percent at the close of last year. That shift in favour of low-cost deposits strengthened the bank’s CASA ratio to 74.7 percent, compared with 71.2 percent in December 2025, giving the bank a cheaper funding base to drive future growth.

Total income for the nine-month period stood at PKR 31.9 billion, while the bank’s Capital Adequacy Ratio remained a robust 14.9 percent, comfortably above the regulatory requirements set by the State Bank of Pakistan. A healthy capital buffer of this kind leaves the bank well positioned to keep extending financing while absorbing the shocks that the wider economy throws at the financial sector.

The numbers land on the back of a year of industry recognition for the bank’s digital push. Earlier this year BankIslami was named Pakistan’s Best Islamic Digital Bank at the Euromoney Islamic Finance Awards, an honour that recognised its work in bringing technology-driven banking services closer to everyday customers. The bank also picked up a Bronze award in the Creative Excellence category at the Dragons of Asia Awards 2026, a signal that its brand-building efforts are being noticed beyond its balance sheet.

Commenting on the results, Imran H Shaikh, President and Chief Executive Officer of BankIslami, said the figures show a growing public appetite for Riba-free banking in Pakistan. He described Islamic banks as central to the country’s shift towards an interest-free financial system, and said the bank’s mission of making Islamic banking easy and accessible for everyone continues to guide its growth. The bank’s results, he added, are a sign of that trust building over time.

BankIslami operates a nationwide network of more than 560 branches, serving customers across retail, corporate and cash management banking, alongside investment banking, trade finance and home remittances. Its leadership says customer experience and the mission of “Saving Humanity from Riba” remain at the heart of its strategy as Pakistan’s Islamic banking industry continues to gain ground.
