IESCO announces power shutdown across Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal on 3 November

The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) will suspend electricity in parts of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal on Tuesday, 3 November, as part of its ongoing maintenance programme. Most of the outages will run from 9:00am to 2:00pm, and they are being carried out for the annual maintenance of 11kV feeders, construction and development work, and the maintenance of power transformers at grid stations. The schedule names the feeders and areas affected in each operation circle, and the same programme cut power across the region on 2 November, with the company saying such work is being carried out daily.

The schedule is wide, covering cities, towns and villages across the region, so residents should check whether their feeder is on the list and plan around the five-hour window. A few lines and grid stations follow different timings, set out below.

Islamabad operation circle

In Islamabad, outages are scheduled in Bara Kahu, Murree and Patriata, along with sectors including D-12, E-11, F-7, F-8, G-6, G-7, G-8, G-9, G-10, G-13, I-8 and I-10, and feeders on the 132kV D-12 grid station will also be off for power transformer maintenance. In Rawalpindi City, feeders in the City, Satellite Town and Westridge divisions will be shut down, again mostly from 9:00am to 2:00pm. The schedule names Bagh Sardaran, Jamia Masjid and Liaqat Bagh in the old city area, Jinnah Road and Fawara Chowk covering Akbar Market and Sabzi Mandi, and Muhammadi Chowk covering Khayaban-e-Sir Syed sectors 3 and 4. Two transmission-line jobs run longer: Murree-Chatter Kalas from 7:30am to 5:00pm and Lakar Mar-Tamman from 9:00am to 4:00pm.

For households and businesses in the affected areas, the practical step is simple: charge phones and other essential devices before 9:00am, save any important work, and keep the outage window in mind when planning the day. IESCO says the work is routine annual maintenance to keep feeders and transformers in working order. Anyone unsure whether their street or feeder is included should check the full schedule shared by IESCO, since the list above names the main areas in each circle.
