How to Check Your Punjab Driving Licence Status Online

People across Punjab no longer need to visit a licensing office just to find out where their driving licence application stands, because the province’s Driving License Information Management System, known as DLIMS, lets applicants follow the whole process from home. All that is needed is the applicant’s Computerised National Identity Card number, and the online tracker will show the current stage of the application within moments.

The process begins with a simple web search for DLIMS Tracking, which brings up the official tracking application. Once that page is open, the applicant enters the thirteen-digit CNIC number in the space provided and then answers the short verification question shown on the screen, a routine check designed to confirm that a real person, rather than an automated programme, is making the request. With those details filled in, a click on the track option submits the information and pulls up the licence record.

What the screen shows next depends on how far the application has travelled through the system. A message saying that the regular licence is in the printing queue means exactly what it sounds like, that the card is still waiting its turn to be printed, and that there is nothing further the applicant needs to do at that stage. If the licence has already been printed and sent out, the page instead provides the delivery details, and where a Pakistan Post tracking number is included, the parcel can then be followed on the postal service’s own website until it arrives.

For thousands of applicants, the real value of the service is the trip it saves. Checking a status used to mean taking time off, travelling to an office and joining a queue simply to ask a question, whereas the same answer is now available from a phone or a computer at home. It is a small change in itself, but it fits a wider shift in Punjab towards putting routine government services online, cutting out unnecessary visits and giving people a clear, up-to-date answer without the wait.
