Politecnico di Milano in Milan has opened 64 merit-based scholarships for international students, including students from Pakistan, for the academic year 2027-28. Every award provides a full tuition-fee waiver, and most recipients will also receive a cash allowance of up to ten thousand euros. The scholarships are for English-taught Master of Science programmes, so applicants do not need Italian to follow their degree. For many Pakistani graduates, tuition is often the largest barrier to studying abroad, and this scheme removes it while also helping with living costs.
The university has divided the awards into four categories, named Platinum, Gold, Bronze and Silver, spread across its campuses in Milan, Piacenza, Cremona, Lecco and Mantova. In total, 54 of the 64 scholarships carry a cash allowance, while the remaining ten cover tuition only. The differences lie in the allowance, the campus and, for some awards, the programme. Applicants should check which category fits their course and campus.
At the top of the scheme are ten Platinum scholarships at the Milano Leonardo and Milano Bovisa campuses in Milan. Each one provides a full tuition-fee waiver plus a gross allowance of ten thousand euros, paid as five thousand euros at the start of the semester and five thousand euros later, once the university has verified that the student has taken at least two examinations during the first scholarship semester. That condition ties the second payment to real academic progress.
The largest group is Gold, with 34 scholarships split between Milan and Piacenza. Eighteen Milan Gold awards each carry a full waiver and eight thousand euros, paid in two instalments of four thousand euros, with the second released after the student has taken at least one examination. Sixteen Piacenza Gold awards each provide a full waiver and five thousand euros, paid in two instalments of two thousand five hundred euros on the same condition. Piacenza Gold awards are linked to Sustainable Architecture and Landscape Design, Landscape Architecture and Land Landscape Heritage, and Energy Engineering.
Ten Bronze scholarships, also at Piacenza, follow a simpler pattern. They are for the English-taught Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, specialising in Mechatronics for Manufacturing. Each Bronze award provides a full waiver and two thousand five hundred euros, paid in a single instalment at the beginning of the semester. The total is smaller than Platinum or Gold, but there is no second instalment to wait for, which makes budgeting more straightforward.
The ten Silver scholarships work differently. They are available at the Cremona, Lecco, Mantova and Piacenza campuses, cover tuition for the academic year, but include no living allowance. Recipients must also pay administrative and insurance costs themselves, so a Silver scholar will still need savings or family support for accommodation, food and travel. Across all categories, allowances are gross amounts, may be subject to tax, and are not guaranteed to cover all living expenses.
Eligibility is limited to international students applying for the first year of an eligible English-taught Master of Science programme, and Pakistani students can apply if they meet the academic and admission requirements. Applicants must hold a relevant bachelor’s degree, or be completing an eligible undergraduate qualification, and they must satisfy the requirements of their chosen programme. Admission alone is not enough. The committee will consider only candidates who receive admission and accept its outcome, and who also submit a separate scholarship application through the Online Services portal.
Timing contains two deadlines that must not be confused. Applications opened on October 1, 2026, and candidates must submit their admission applications during the Early Bird period from October 1 to December 1, 2026, completing the application and fee payment within that window to take part in scholarship selection. The final deadline for scholarship applications themselves is December 15, 2026. In practice, admission must be finished well before the scholarship deadline.
English requirements should be checked early. The university accepts IELTS, with a minimum score of 6.0, and PTE Academic, with a minimum of 59. For TOEFL iBT, it accepts at least 78 for tests taken until January 20, 2026, and at least 4.5 under the revised system from January 21, 2026. Students whose bachelor’s degree was taught in English for at least three years may qualify for an exemption, with an official certificate confirming that at least 75 percent of courses were in English. Candidates should also prepare a degree certificate, transcripts, a grade point average statement and a curriculum vitae, plus a portfolio for certain design programmes.
Applying involves two steps on the university’s official website. Students must register on the Online Services platform, select an eligible programme, complete the admission form, upload documents and pay the fifty-euro Early Bird fee by December 1, 2026, then submit a separate scholarship application through the same portal. For Pakistani students, a full tuition waiver, with a cash allowance for most recipients, opens a realistic path to a European master’s degree that cost alone might otherwise have ruled out. The strongest applications will be prepared early, with documents ready and the scholarship step treated as equally important as admission itself.
