Police in Multan have registered a case against three unidentified armed men after a woman reported that she was assaulted while travelling home with her husband and their two young children late at night. Her husband lodged the complaint, and officers have opened an investigation into the incident, which is said to have taken place near Wan Chhatta.
According to the complaint, the family had spent the evening at a birthday celebration for the husband’s cousin’s son and were on their way home when three armed men on a motorcycle without a number plate stopped them at around eleven o’clock at night. The husband told police that the men threatened the family at gunpoint, with one holding a weapon towards his wife and another towards the children, before one of the men took the woman away from the road into a nearby wooded area. He said that people in the vicinity reached the spot after he raised the alarm, and that the suspects fled the scene.
Multan City Police Officer Akhtar Farooq has confirmed that the incident took place the previous night. He said the woman has undergone a medical examination and that samples have been sent to a laboratory in Lahore for forensic analysis, a step that investigators will rely on as they try to identify the men involved.
Cases of this kind place a heavy responsibility on the investigation that follows, since the suspects remain unidentified and the only account so far comes from the family itself. The forensic results from Lahore, along with any evidence gathered from the scene and the surrounding area, will now be central to whether police can trace the motorcycle and the men who were riding it. For now, the case stands as a reminder of the vulnerability of families travelling late at night, and of how much rests on a prompt and careful police response in the hours after such a complaint is made.
